With their very different painting technique, they manage to combine detailed depiction as well as diffusion and dissolution in an unmistakable manner. John Wentz, who primarily paints in oil, shows parts of his portraits in photorealistic style, while other parts are roughly sketched with a broad brushstroke. Guy Denning, who primarily uses the materials charcoal and chalk, is a master in showing the expression and emotions of his protagonists with just a few strokes precisely and sensitively.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nBoth artists show people of today. These are, on the one hand, self-promoters who, in self-created isolation, endeavor to match the illusion of a social (media) community. People who are ready to transform their personality until the loss of self-awareness.<br />\r\nOn the other hand, characters full of self-confidence, who represent, in an anticipated, almost intoxicating connection with the universe, strength and independence. Turns out, even artists have hump days to hurdle too. And like us, their fantasies can be a little greedy and gun slinging. Look no further than pop art bandits, the Tinker Brothers and see what they manage to get away with in their latest exhibition, 'Dinner Is Served'. It’s as tasty as it sounds - featuring past work, as well as a new limited edition print series.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nYou’ll come face to face with an array of characters known for having vivid fantasy lives, multiple personas, and an amazing ability to court trouble, yet come out unscathed. Reimagined with sinister mirth by the Tinker Brothers, you’ll see recognisable pop icons pushed to the edge. Go all meta as you live vicariously through the Tinker Brothers, living vicariously through the anti-heroes of animation, living vicariously through their own alter egos, when you immerse in their work, including the three panel title piece, 'Dinner Is Served'.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nA darker look at the scrappier side of Snoopy, Felix the Cat and Mickey Mouse, each artwork comprising the 'Dinner Is Served' exhibition is grimacing with the bold, acerbic wit and mischief of the Tinker Brothers. Read: guns, raining dollar bills and shady deals - while wearing shades. Subverting pop culture characters and throwing them into gangsta-land scenarios, where they look downright laconic, is perverse work. For whom is the writing being done? In what circumstances?’ was firstly posed by Edward Said to form a debate on the politics of interpretation. Departing from these questions, the exhibition Who Writes? brings together artists from different regions whose works are charged with both political and poetic sensibilities in response to their own environments. It is the fair distribution, the right proportion, the stability between opposite elements. It must result from balance, a harmony. The distribution of the lines, masses, solids and voids of a composition must ensure that the overall arrangement of a work is coherent.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nThe GCA Gallery Paris, presents a group exhibition with 9 artists: Dotmasters, Dzia, Etnik, Greg Jager, Kurar, Malakkai, Momies, Mr June and Otto Schade.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nThese artists have studied the question of equilibrium/balance and have produced for this exhibition, works exclusively on paper.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nBalance is also a dynamic state, a subject in its own right. The rhythm or movement of the subject of a work sometimes leads the viewer to ask questions about the composition of the work as a whole. Etnik's pieces perfectly illustrate this idea with their floating geometric shapes whose energy starts from a central point and extends outwards.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nKurar traps our gaze by binding in the air, by simple fluorescent threads, heavy objects. In his works, he defies the laws of Newtonian physics to which we are accustomed, to transport us in his infantile and contesting imagination.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nMomies, by mixing different pictorial techniques and different mediums, by a painting that is both gestural and meticulous, harmonizes its abstract composition of its modules. The rhythm of the movements calms down or accelerates, the transparencies and superimpositions participate in the good reading of the works.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nThe precarious balances of Malakkai challenge us in his drawings. There is a surrealist influence in which poetry, precarious equilibrium and dreamlikeness mingle.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nThe structure of a work is very important if it is to be legible and coherent while being original. Otto Schade combines and fuses distinct animal forms, the result of which is a different interpretation of the subject. The precision of his lines and the perfect proportion of his proportions invite the eye to wander both above and in the work.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nDzia also handles the idea of the bestiary very well; here his compositions speak to us in a much more direct way. The delicacy and the poetry of his drawings reside mainly in his so identifiable treatment of the fauna. He achieves a certain balance of his arrangements with simple and abstract pictorial artifices that harmonize all his works.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nWanting to pay homage to the inventor of a certain type of tape, Dotmasters, in his series \"Stick em up\" consciously composes images that would be incoherent outside the artistic framework. He uses his technical prowess in realism, which he achieves with his precisely cut stencils, to \"stick\" vertically, using tape, various objects - here carnations, daffodils or tulips. The life that emerges from his paintings on paper, these bouquets in balance on a wall, pushes the spectator to wonder if he is not in front of a photography.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nFinally, Greg Jager, seeks a balance of shapes and colors according to the influences of the suprematist and constructivist painters. By using simple geometric shapes and a limited chromatic scale, he structures his work around a flat and deep dynamism.<br />\r\n<br />\r\nThe notion of balance in a plastic work is inseparable from the physical experience of our everyday life.
